Are they insane?

It's exactly Batman Begins runtime, so... what's the problem? We should be glad that the movie will be long enough for us to enjoy it, that's all.  I love long films, I would have been disappointed if it was shorter than that. Warcraft was 2h long, and all fans were complaining that it's not enough to make a fully understandable and consummate film based on such rich mythology. Assassin's Creed has enough things to explain to the new audience as well as introducing new material for the fans of the franchise who already knows everything.

Warcraft is an awful movie and it flopped.

Don't compare Batman's trilogy by Nolan with AC, come on! I love Kurzel but Nolan is a much better director and writer. Writers for AC are ridiculously bad.

reply

Yes! And its running time was one of the reasons it was so bad.

I don't compare them, because AC is not come out yet and of course Nolan is much much higher, but obviously to break the videogame movie adaptations curse Kurzel have to perform a similar jump to Nolan's jump for comic-book adaptations when he made Batman Begins. Ubisoft even pointed out that AC was modeled after Batman Begins.

"We told [Fassbender] that we were going to build the project together," Barronet said. “That we have an enormous brand and we want to make a film modeled on features like Batman Begins or Blade Runner. That's what we're aiming for. We promised him that he could work with the scriptwriters, that we were going to bring him into all the key creative choices."

Yes, AC is heading the same way.

Batman Begins wasn't a hit so...not surprised.

reply

AC is 20 minutes longer.

Batman Begins was a hit in terms of its quality, and it has given a way for two billion dollar sequels. The quality is importaint, not money. Assassin's Creed doesn't need to be super-profitable, the response is what matters. It can merely profitable, but if it's a great film, the sequel will be greenlit.

Which is awful. People do sit to watch a Nolan's film about Batman with 2h30, now you tell me if ordinary movie goers will do the same with a videogame adaptation directed by a non famous guy and starred by a box office poison. With an awful promotion.

Batman Begins wasn't a hit by any means, it just broke even, mostly due to Batman's name. TDK made billions because of the Joker and Heath Ledger's death. TDKR grossing a billion was a consequence of that. Good reviews don't guarantee success and neither bad ones guarantee a flop. Just look at Transformers franchise and Dredd.

You think that Fox will make sequels if AC flops? LOL They don't care about quality, they care about money!!! What guarantees sequels is the money the first film madem not reviews! AC will need 450-500M to break even, it will never gross that. In what kind of world do you live in? AC is NOT Batman, Kurzel is NOT Nolan, Fox is NOT WB, you cannot compare both projects. This is a videogame adaptation, not a comics one.

He's a delusional fanboy. He keeps comparing Nolan to Kurzel. He also keeps comparing AC to Batman! It's lunacy!

He thinks that there will be a sequel even if the movie isn't profitable. He lives in a delusional fairytale land full of unicorns. There is no point in trying to convince him otherwise.

If AC fails, which I hope it doesn't, his world and the world of those other delusional fanboys will crumble.
