Why did he laugh about that joke about his dad?

A comedian made a joke about Pete's dead dying in the world trade center and Pete was seen laughing a long with it in the audience. It was even the Comedian that surprised me (shock value comedy has been around for ages). It was the bizarre reaction from Pete. Very strange.
