He was great in his small role in 12 Years a Slave.

As an actor, the man never disappoints.

It seems that he shares an agent with Lupita Nyong'o who plays the slave Patsey in TYAS.

When the script was sent to his agent for Garret, the agent thought Lupita should screen test for Patsey. Lupita auditioned and got the part.

Btw, Brad Pitt is an admirer of Garret's work.

Garret joked that he and Lupita played mumbletypeg on set.

Dude is great in everything. Honestly. I can't think of a time when he has done anything but added to a project. I am, though, getting tired of waiting for someone with some power to wise up and give him the lead. All his films do, it seems, are win awards.

I somewhat don't want him to ever get a lead lol. Only because I feel like the reason why he has such strong presence is he tends to just be a side character (I've only seen him in a few movies, but in Burn Notice he was my favorite) Same with 12 years a slave. It's just the way he talks, he seems like he's so centered and in control. But his character none the less doesn't come off as something I'd want to see way to much, it would ruin the impact when he does go on scene.
