Chris Elliott on a book tour...

He'll be in my town, Oct. 25th for a book signing. Should I go? Should I ask him if he has ever read alt.fan.chris-elliott? Should I ask him if he has any raisins in his pockets?

You should offer to help find Larry. He's been missing for like a dozen years now.

reply

Hahahahaha! Good one. It is possible that he has fallen underground.

I think if I go, I will bring my copy of 'Daddy's Boy' for him to sign.

It'll be near Halloween. You should dress up as as wildebeest and wear roller skates.

reply

Man, I wish I had more of the wildebeast spirit in me. 'Cause then I'd totally do it.

well, there's also the giraffe on skates... and the lioness. Though Chris might freak and mistake you for Sharon. And that surely would not be a pretty sight.

reply

Actually, that might be funny. I could totally pass as Sharon. I could find a '50's dress and dress up like her. Then I just have to get myself in a position to thrust my knee upward with great passion and velocity.

Katy,

I'm mulling (in a Martin sort of way) whether to buy the book and see if you could take it him and get it signed... What do you think? The book could be a stand-in for me!

You could have Chris sign it:
"To: Tom
I shall love you always!"
hmmmm... a bit creepy and not really what I'm looking for.

How about: "Tom, you stupid bastard! Get a *beep* [spelled out, not the IMBD bleeped version] life!
--Love, Chris Elliot"

mispelling on purpose--not sure how he feels about that. My last name gets misspelled all the time; I don't care. People don't even spell his name right on newsgroups and boards that say "Elliott". You should mention that.

I don't think he's coming anywhere near me, so what do you think? If you can get him to the the sig, I would buy the freakin' hard cover edition!

Maybe you could print this and hand it to him? Tell him I have copies of all 36 eps of GAL from "Gus Borden" and have the Cabin Boy DVD (wish there were extras). And whenever he's on the Letterman or Conan, I make sure I set the VCR for record. And I'm patiently waiting for S1 of GAL with commentary to come out someday.

Finally, thank him for the guffaws--make sure you say "guffaws".

Vicariously,
Tom
