It's been too long.

I loved Late Night with David Letterman on NBC. To me, the best part of that show was Chris Elliott.
I couldn't wait for him to get his own show, and Get A Life was a perfect vehicle for his perfected stupidity.
It seemed like I was the only one watching the show, as it kept appearing on different nights.
It's weird now, because almost everyone I talk to remembers Get A Life!

After watching Chris tonight, I am going to get Shroud of The Thwacker tomorrow...

I taped it and am going to watch in a few minutes...

If you have Get A Life Vol. 2, there are Easter Eggs. (I had my copy for over two years before knowing about them. Then the first one didn't work--apparently the writer mis-typed... Later I heard again there were and tried again and there definitely are)

"More David Mirkin interviews-On the main menu, click down to highlight
'special features, then click right [left on mine] to hear Mirkin talking
about how they
got the R.E.M. song. Also, on the chapter pages for the individual episodes,
easter eggs can be found revealing Mirkin talking about those specific
episodes. For 'Zoo Amimals on Wheels', highlight the chapter one screen,
click left, then up. The word 'Zoo' will highlight. For 'The Big City',
highlight the chapter four screen, click left. The words 'Wallet Boy' will
appear on Chris's t-shirt. For 'Neptune 2000', highlight the chapter six
screen, click right, then click down. A snorkel will appear on Chris's face.
If there is an easter egg for the 'Marriage' episode, I haven't been able to
find it."

Thanks for the easter egg info.

I have the 2 Rhino DVDs, even though I taped most of the episodes when they originally aired.
Hopefully, a more complete DVD release is forthcoming. My favorite episodes are the Food Inspector from season 2, and when Martin Mull comes to visit in season 1.

I read somewhere on the internet they were working on a full season 1 release, but don't know the source and kind of doubt it... And there's this problem which was painfully obvious on the USA airings:

Maybe someday. Cabin Boy came out on DVD so I guess anything is possible.

I got all the shows on VHS from "Gus Borden" years ago, including the pilot with a different mother. I tried to convert them but have cheap equipment and the source tapes aren't great to begin with.

I'd definitely buy season DVDs. I wished they wouldn't have released just selected eps, but at least there's those... I love all the shows but especially Dadicus. Timedrink is great too. Spewey is kinda hard to watch, but has it's moments.

I enjoyed the Letterman interview. Dave seems to have a fondness for him and just lets him go off where he will. My library has the book on order and I put in a reserve request. It sounded like Dave actually read the thing (and liked it)!

"DRE: What about more Get a Life on DVD?

ELLIOTT: Interesting that you bring that up. I wasn't going to. But I think
Sony's going to release the first season. A few years ago some DVDs were put
out by one of the creators, not Adam and not me. I had absolutely no say
over it and wasn't even consulted in the process. So I didn't even do any
commentary. For the first season DVD, we did commentary and a little
featurette. But it's being held up in the legal world by someone. "

Since David Mirkin is the other cocreator of the show aside from Elliott and Resnick, and he's the one who was interviewed on the Rhino DVDs, it seems like he might be the one holding up the process. Actually, that Suicide Girls interview seems to confirm the suspicion --

DRE: When Get a Life ended, [co-creator] David Mirkin went over to The Simpsons and turned Homer into what you did on Get a Life.

ELLIOTT: Yeah, well you’ll get nothing out of David Mirkin from me [laughs]. I won’t comment on him [laughs]. Have you ever interviewed him?

DRE: I’ve never interviewed him. But I do plan on asking those questions when I speak to him.

ELLIOTT: Well he’ll spin it in some way but I won’t even go towards him. That has nothing to do with the Simpsons, my experience with David has totally to do with just Get a Life.

DRE: I have interviewed Bob Odenkirk and when I get a chance to speak to anyone who had anything to do with Get a Life, I’ll mention it. He said “That wasn’t such a fun time for me.”

ELLIOTT: Or any of the writers or anybody that had to be in the writing room [laughs].

DRE: I’ve definitely read about how the network jerked Get a Life around with money and being all over the schedule.

ELLIOTT: There was definitely all of that there. There were three creators on the show. There was me, my best friend in the whole world Adam Resnick and then David Mirkin. I have no problem saying that there were personal differences that arose that certainly helped in imploding the show.
