All straight actors play gay characters sometimes. You don't have to be gay to play a gay character. Gays plays straight characters sometimes too. See that movie that Ellen DeGeneres made, she plays a straight character.

Jake Gyllenhaal (however you spell his last name) and Heath Ledger are both perfectly straight guys, but they play gay characters for Brokeback Mountain (and even bravely slept together), but they're still straight.

Ever seen the ad for "If these Walls could talk 2"? That's a combination of gay and straight actresses in there... no wait, I think there's only 1-2 gay actresses in there. One of them being Ellen herself.
