A rather disturbing theory on Colleen Haskell

https://www.reddit.com/r/survivor/comments/7can7v/a_rather_disturbing_theory_on_colleen_haskell/

One of Survivor's biggest mysteries is that of Colleen Haskell. For Survivor fans that don't know who she is, she was a contestant on the first season of the show Borneo. She was the "sweetheart" of the first season and one of the first real breakout stars of the show. She was so popular she ended up making it big outside of Survivor, getting a few acting gigs in both film and television.

However, she's all but disappeared from the public sphere. After getting those acting gigs, she then quit acting and retired to anonymous living. When asked to return to the show multiple times, she turned them down each time, saying she just "generally didn't want to go through that again". She's completely distanced herself from the show, it's fans and the Survivor community at large. She seems to want to live in complete obscurity from the rest of the world.

Now there's nothing wrong with this. I'm not saying there is. It's just that her retreat into obscurity left a lot of fans wondering why she did. Especially since she seemed to be on the path to much bigger fame and wanted to do so.

The other day I happened to encounter a random blog post that talked about her. The post was short and from 2015. It was nothing more then random speculation, but it got me thinking about recent events in Hollywood.

For those that haven't been following the news, there's been widespread publication and outrage over a huge saga of sexual abuse coming to light in Hollywood. It started with Harvey Weinstein and soon spiraled to a number of other celebrities. Kevin Spacey has had a pretty ugly saga unfold with him trying to cover allegations up with his coming out story, Dan Schneider of Nickelodeon fame has had increasing speculations arise about him, and both Louis C.K. and George Takei have had allegations thrown at them in recent days.

And this isn't a new problem either it seems. Corey Feldman has been making the rounds talking about how he and his deceased friend Corey Haim were sexually abused as kids, Elijah Wood opened up how Hollywood has a pedophilia problem, and even Terry Crews of all people has talked about being groped at a party by a high ranking executive.

Overall, it seems like Hollywood has a dark problem with sexual abuse of both children and adults.

The reason why I bring this up is in regards to that old, random blog post. What if that was the reason for Colleen's retreat away from the public sphere? As she is making her way up in the entertainment industry, she encounters this shit. She maybe witnesses it happening to other people or even worse has it happen to her herself. She decides afterwards that she wants no part of the entertainment out of disgust and decides to retreat from public life. She also wants nothing to do with Survivor because she views that as the start of the ordeal she had to experience.

Again, this is just a theory that is mere speculation and has no basis of solid evidence. But with all that is going on right now in the entertainment industry, you do have to stop and consider these things.

A lot of my e-mails ask me whatever happened to so and so. Most of the time their career just ended. Nothing else. They had their time or their one shot and just could never get back into it. Sometimes though, there are really good reasons why someone walked away. This is one of those times. This person was America’s Sweetheart. Yeah, not Meg Ryan or Julia Roberts. Nope. She was on network television and for weeks the entire country sat riveted and we all fell in love with her. So, Hollywood does what they do and gave her a movie. A crap movie, but a movie. It made some money and it led to other job offers for her. A lot of job offers. She literally had millions of dollars worth of offers at one point. While she was deciding her next move, she took some meetings. Apparently at each one of these meetings, producers or managers or whatever would try and sleep with her. This is not what she signed up for. There was going to be no casting couch for her. She didn’t need the industry or the limelight or to be famous. If it happened, then that was great, but no way was she going to do the casting couch thing. So, she waited and waited. She landed a pretty decent guest starring role on a very hit network show. She didn’t have to sleep with anyone to get the spot, but while she was on the show, the A list tool star of the show who still has an almost A list career tried to sleep with her. He hit on her right after he kissed his supposed girlfriend goodbye after having sex with her in his trailer. That was pretty much the last straw for her. Oh, except for the producer of the show who also hit on her. America’s Sweetheart tried to do the behind the camera thing, but that was even worse. She walked away and twice turned down $1M offers to come back to where it all started. She made the clean break and just had no interest in going back to it again.

Good for her....thay type of behavior is part and parcel of hollyweird.

Want to have fame and fortune? You probably will have to go through a lot of sexual abuse
