hope Cats marks the end of his reign

For the past decade, Tom Hooper has been coasting off a string of mediocre, forgettable Oscar bait films that no one other than the Academy seems to actually like.

His films are all virtually forgotten by the time Oscar season is over. No one seems to want to ever actually go back and give his movies a second watch. If they did, they'd probably find it not being nearly as good as they initially thought, given that the feeling of conformity in regards to Academy Awards buzz diminishes over time.

Now with Cats, it seems like this overrated hack has officially made his first critical and commercial flop. Hopefully, this will put an end to Hooper's totally forgettable movies getting nominated for a shit ton of Oscars every year. He should go back to TV. That's where he belongs.

Agreed, I can't stand his movies.

Did Hooper steal your girl?

Cats was an easily predictable disaster, but His Dark Materials was a big success... perhaps his most lucrative future is on TV.

For the record, I DID enjoy The King's Speech, although his winning awards for his 'point and click in close-up' direction was laughable. Les Mis was pretty lame and on two attempts I have failed to get past 20 minutes or so of The Danish Girl.
