Good in GoT but awful in..

....Age of Adaline.

I loved him in Age of Adaline. He did a good job with some really mediocre dialogue. He fit into the romantic fantasy (emphasis on fantasy) aspect very well.

My run down... Good in GOT (has the rugged sexy flirtatiousness down pat) , Good in Age of Adaline (has the self-deprecating, nice guy role down), Good in Nashville (omg, has the sexy flirting down, so much chemistry with Connie Britton, I miss them together), and absolutely Brilliant in Orphan Black. If you haven't seen Orphan Black, its a must see. He blends seamlessly into the story, superior acting.

What is the awfulness that you think of him? I think he did just fine in Age of Adaline. It's a good movie, not perfect, but good.

I agree he's better than good in all of these - but perhaps best of all was his work as Sonny in "Treme." Great series (I am still in denial, and haven't watched all of the last season because I don't want it to be over).

Do NOT watch the early Brit bio-pic where he plays young Rudolph Nureyev - at least, not if you've any ballet training. The leads do try, especially Huisman, at conveying the phyical carriage of dancers, but when they show non-dancers doing even a port-de-bras, my 12+ years of ballet had me cringing, and I finally had to turn it off.

Oh, right. So, she secretly trained a flock of sandflies.

I also loved him in Treme. I loved the whole show. There was scene in which Sonny and Tranh talked about him staying away from Mardi Gras and Tranh invites him to dinner. It was really touching and memorable.

If you want to see what he's talking about, there's a lot of people saying why they think that in this Age of Adaline thread:
