NOT born Judith Ellen 'Licht'

You see time and time again that Ms. Light was born Judith Ellen "Licht". This is simply UNTRUE. It is true, however, that the surname Light descended from the surname Licht, hence the misunderstanding. Her father is Mr. Sidney Light and always has been.

Do we know when the surname was changed? I know she's Jewish, but, do we know where her ancestors are from? Just curious from a fan.

I'm not a historian, but the name "Licht" sounds dutch or german, being a dutch citizen I can tell you that the name Licht is very common in the Netherlands. The dutch word 'licht" means light, as from the sun or a lamp, Problably the name got 'translated' through the years in english. It happenend also with other surnames originated from the Netherlands.
