Replace Pegg his comedy has no legs

It cant stand up. this is not a 'if you like simon pegg i think you are an idiot' thread. This is just my observation.
I thoroughly enjoyed shaun of the dead like any normal person should. following up with hot fuz another quality picture. essentially everything after that and has not been tailor made for him he has failed to deliver on.

Paul is where I noticed the cracks in what i thought was a truly talented comedian. without nick frost in the mix peggs comedy would have fallen flat on its face and the actual acting display was pretty poor, developing no real chemistry what so ever with Kristen Wiig.

Then i started to realize all those other *beep* movies i had seen pegg in (how to lose friends, run fat boy, burke and hare etc..) could have been good movies if they had not been bogged down by all the Pegg and had a genuine actor been cast in the leading roles.
and he just looks totally out of place in smaller roles from star trek and mission impossible.

which left me with the conclusion that edgar wright is the real talent and one of those talents is making simon pegg look like a good actor/comedian. shaun of the dead, hot fuzz, the worlds end - all great films, Paul just scrapes by mostly on frost and wiigs shoulders.
I would even go so far as to say nick frost = better actor if not comedian than pegg. when pegg isnt around nick still brings the frost. (not that he has the credentials to back that up yet but if you really look you see what i mean pegg is forced frost is natural).

So you basically reduce Pegg to the trilogy and Paul? Not only that your observations are somewhat odd, you clearly have the vibe to have negative feelings towards Pegg in general.

So you basically reduce Pegg to the trilogy and Paul? well yeah, neither his comedy or acting stands up in anything else I have seen him in. his acting shortcomings are well disguised in the trilogy but give worlds end another watch and it is blatantly obvious surrounded by a cast of somewhat more talented actors. I suppose there is no money to be made in indy stuff but thats what he thrives on, hes just no good for cinema. in my humble online opinion. haha

I found him incredible in the fantastic fear of everything (not a good movie, but a great actor)
But now I am curious, what is a good comedian in your opinion?

"...but they hung him anyway."
"Hanged, Ami. Your father was not a tapestry."

what is a good comedian in your opinion? kind of a big question when comparing to pegg so i wont even go in to comparing him to american comedy stars. but a few others out of UK - Ardal O'Hanlon, Steve Coogan, Martin Clunes, Martin Freeman, Andy Nyman, Kris Marshall (border-line). Thats just the obvious ones that come to mind.

Respectfully disagree. I headed on imdb about to start a thread about how great of a actor he is. Not just comedy. The mans gold. Paul was awesome imo. Liked him in the english show spaced as well.

Replace Pegg? That's the strangest part of the post. Replace him how? Most of those films you listed he wrote. And Pegg's characters in all were different. He is more of a character actor than a comedian in them.
