I've only seen her in three things.. first "The Wire" and then "The Office" but I just finished watching her in "Gone Baby Gone."
Holy smokes Amy Ryan is a great actress! If you only know her from "The Office" then you gotta check-out "Gone Baby Gone" -- her transformation for the role is stunning.

Yeah, she's a different type of character in Changeling than she is in The Office. Amy Ryan is great when it comes to comedy, but my experience with her work has taught me that she positively shines as a dramatic actress.

Agreed. It's a rare film/TV actress who can move so seamlessly between genres, especially ridiculous comedy and gritty drama. Go Amy Ryan!!
shareShe is, in my opinion, one of those "true" actresses. The good ones are more difficult to spot, because their own personality doesn't come through in their performances. Their own little facial ticks and mannerisms are lost, and so you don't often even realise they are who they are. You only see the character. Pity the people of this calibre are often overlooked for the celebrity types who get oscars for wincing or screaming at the camera.
