The Danish Girl

Matthias is the best thing in The Danish Girl; so understated, so truthful. Really enjoyed his work in this film.

Matthias was also the only thing I liked in the film, too bad that he was wasted. In the original script, his character would have more screentime and his relationship with Gerda would have been much more than platonic, but Tom Hooper decided to focus on the ficticious love story between the leads.  Matthias could have got an Oscar nomination if his screentime hadn't been reduced.

The only thing I could think of is that they made him look like Putin. :D

Ditto! Couldn't help but see the resemblance.Except he's about a foot taller!

Totally agree! It's the 1st time I see him work, and wow, what a man! Fascinating screen presence, the best thing in an underwhelming oscar bait movie. Looking forward to his work now on.
