Very welcome news indeed Carved as not long ago, her naysayers would flood Kristen's IMDb board insisting that she would never star in another big studio production again--and worse, that her 15 minutes of fame would soon be up and she wouldn't even find work in small budget indies.
And yes, there must be a good reason why a bunch of her films were filmed in or near New Orleans, such as Welcome to the Rileys, American Ultra, On the Road, The Yellow Handkerchief along with Breaking Dawn Parts 1 & 2 which were filmed in Baton Rouge. Someone posted a comment on another forum stating that Kristen will be in NOLA for 8 weeks. At least for her, it's become like a home away from home .
While some are making early comparisons of Underwater to the film Armageddon, only instead of taking place in space the action ensues underwater--the synopsis reminds me of another film shot in New Orleans a year ago called Deepwater Horizon.
And the thing is Kristen won't just be playing a small supporting role in this film but rather the lead role according to Variety:http://variety.com/2017/film/news/kristen-stewart-adventure-thriller-underwater-fox-1201993923/
So it sure looks as if she'll star in at least three films which will have a U.S. theatrical release in 2017 in Personal Shopper, Lizzie and Underwater. As far as her being cast in JT Leroy, Hollywood.com mentions that she is in negotiations to star in this film:http://www.hollywood.com/general/kristen-stewart-set-to-star-in-deep-sea-thriller-underwater-60676859/
Not sure how reputable a site Hollywood.com is, so hopefully we'll have confirmation from either Variety, The Hollywood Reporter or Deadline Hollywood, on whether she's really in talks for this role as well.
I'm guessing that her outstanding performance as host on Saturday Night Live, which received very good TV ratings, caught the attention of producers and directors of tent pole fare who realize she's still relevant as an actor even to mainstream audiences. Hopefully this will translate into other lead roles in big budget flicks--perhaps including a role in a superhero franchise?
