Very impressive how she has kept her filmography clean by not doing any TV series work

Hollywood actors jumping to doing TV series is normally seen as a "downgrade". It is quite impressive how Stewart has avoided this throughout her career and has carved her path towards being a more serious and high caliber actress after gaining so much popularity due to the twilight films.

reply

Too bad she's a terrible actress though.

reply

Except she isn't. Only people who think that are people who jumped on the Twilight hate train.

reply

She plays the quite emotionally withdrawn character well. Anything that requires anymore range and she's lost.

reply

She might not be as great as Robert Pattinson but she is certainly no Taylor Lautner

reply

That's about right.

reply

Taylor Lautner just can't get out from his Sharkboy persona.

Is TV acting really still seen as a downgrade? With the rise of streaming the quality of TV shows have really gone up, I think there are many who even hold them up to as high a standard as movies. I still prefer movies over TV but I wouldn't really see it as a downgrade anymore, not like back in the day.

reply

TV actors are usually paid less, much less, at least initially. Unless the show becomes very popular like "Friends" or "The big bang theory". Actors have to invest at least few years in a show, if the show survives at all.

That is why TV shows are usually using less known actors. For established actors it is usually considered a downgrade. Not about acting abilities or quality.

reply

My thoughts exactly. TV acting is respectable as fuck these days. The outdated ideal of only doing movies, no TV is a one way ticket to DTV type schlock. Not that I'm against type movies.

reply

I do agree that TV acting is respectable and good for a career. TV has expanded so much with all the cable and streaming services that there's a huge demand for actors. In those there are many shows that have become big, getting great critical acclaim, many with actors who may have started in movies.

reply

Yeah definitely. I think you could count on one hand the actors these days who exclusively do features. Like proper movies and no TV.

reply

Yeah it is quite impressive and she has really found her place making independent films.

reply

AS LONG AS SHE THROWS ME A CHARLIES ANGELS BONE OCCASIONALLY, IM GOOD.

reply

Yeah even tho I don't think action films is really her forte.

Yes, she favors Indie films and also seems to especially new or innovative/created directors. She's done quite a few Indies, often smaller films but feature characters and story over glitz and action. It was interesting to see her in action movie Charlies Angels. I felt she did well and I liked the new and wider direction the CA franchise was taking, but sadly the film didn't do well.

reply

Totally agree, it is quite impressive. Same goes for Scarlett Johansson who has never done TV series acting work. Both amazing actresses.

Your perspective is outdated by at least 20 years. TV and Film in the medium you're talking about reflects a bygone era when linear media was the dominant conduit for communication.

Today, popular actors from film have to compete with talentless Influencers on social media platforms, so doing ads that appear on the same platforms as well as streaming services, cable TV, and traditional broadcast television is a necessity to maintain name recognition.

Stewart never engaged in that, even though her character from Twilight was heavily promoted by the media conglomerates who capitalized off her popularity.
