I've got a lot of admiration for his support of Dredd. Other actors may have disowned the film because it underperformed at the cinema, but Urban has backed it all along and, with a little luck, we'll all get the sequel we want.

Indeed. When I saw the original set photos before the movie came out, I thought the helmet was too big etc, thought it was a stupid idea to make a new Dredd movie.
Boy was I ever wrong. Dredd turned out to be an awesome film and I am excited that there is steam going to get a sequel.

shareI don't think that he's looking for cult acclaim; I reckon that he is genuinely supportive of the character and wants to make another film to further explore Dredd's world.

I'm sure it's some of both. He probably appreciates the story, the character, etc but from a professional standpoint he also has visions of being the lead in what could turn into a hit franchise.

shareThere is lot of publicity online and millions are signing the petition for Dredd 2. People who did not know about Dredd 1 now know about Dredd 2. The efforts of Mr Urban are remarkable. DREDD 2 must happen.
