She should win awards and get more leading roles in films

I've been watching Kerry Washington on Scandal and she is an amazing, gifted actor. Great job on her most recent performance on Scandal's midseason finale. She plays a complex character who is strong and confident yet flawed, cares deeply for those she loves, is honest to herself and unashamed of her ambition. Why doesn't this woman have more leading roles in sought-after films?

Because no one else sees what you wrote or at least the people that matter haven't seen it. They see a relatively attractive well dressed black woman who has a rite of passage into the white mainstream of tv making but no special skills
