How absurd. Do you really think so? He has a career in 007 franchise and has been out, so to speak for a while. Do t think it will make much a difference. It's not as if he has career of Tom cruise or anything. That's not meant to be horrible, but it's true

I know he has not career of Tom Cruise status, but I doubt he will be able to play any straight characters in the future like that one he played in Bright Star, and there are not many gay characters in today scripts, so i guess his "career" is over anyway.

Agree with you, MysteryFilm. Talent always wins out; Whishaw's niche was lead roles in indie films and supporting roles in mainstream flicks -- that will continue.

I'd like to disagree with judelaw but I'm not completely convinced he's wrong. Of course it's an exaggeration that his career is over..but I don't think in Hollywood that many actors are openly gay and get offered roles where they play leading love interest opposite a female. They fear it can limit their career. I mean times are changing. Zachery Quinto as Spock in Star Trek and Neil Patrick Harris..in How I met your mother..But in a vast industry what well known actors who are out are still offered roles where they must be romantic interest to females...and that is a lead.
But clearly if he chose to come out he is not worried about his career and it should encourage others in Hollywood to be true to themselves.

quinto came out after he was already seen in trek. and its not like their romance was a main plot of the story. it was merely a background. when kirk starts falling for marcus no one will want to see gay spock and skinny uhura.
