Godzilla ruined him, or is he just being a family man?

Aaron is a good actor; Nowhere Boy, Kickass, Savages, etc., but maybe, no scratch that, he definitely shouldn't have taken the role in Godzilla. The character of Ford Brody was set up to fail. The character was terribly written. He was Blunt, boring, oh and did I mention he was boring? But I don't think that took a toll on his reputation. He's got a growing family to care for, and he's clearly not that type of acting-parent that focuses 100% on work. He's for sure putting the foot on the brake.

+As you can see by the fact that he's currently only taken on 2 roles (1 being an independent, and the other being an Amazon original, so not much budgeting and high profile) in the span of 3 years, since doing both Kickass 2, Avengers: AoU, Godzilla.

Nocturnal Animals is kinda high profile. Tom Ford is a famous fashion designer & his last movie got great reviews. This film just premiered in Venice Film Festival & won the Grand Jury prize. It has a release date in November & is being distributed by Focus Features, so it's not that indie. I just saw the trailer, so that's how I knew all this; & it's on my anticipated list.

Even if Godzilla was not the best role for him, the movie was still a critical & box office success; as was AoU. Not too shabby for him. I think that he is not taking that many roles because he has a family as the OP mentioned.
