As someone who has been in traumatic situations and can identify with the character he played in Godzilla 2014, I think he did very well. You might try putting yourself in the characters place, feeling what he or she feels.

There is a huge difference between the actions of a character, and the horrible job an actor does portraying that character. He is a bad actor.
