Proof that awards are meaningless?

Just checked the Golden Globe nominations and Tatiana didn't get one, which kind of makes me think the entire event is worthless. After re-watching season 2 yesterday, it's just astonishing to me that she's not even nominated.

Meh.

ETA: No SAG nomination, either. I've had enough.

I'm used to see my favorite artists getting snubbed over and over. In music it was always P!nk. In the movie industry it's always Tat. That doesn't take away their quality and the fact that both are brilliant and miles ahead of their peers!

I think all of the award shows are political even if they occasionally get it right. Agree that Tatiana is an incredibly talented actor playing multiple personalities in one show. I doubt that anyone else could pull this off.

They may be meaningless to the "loser", but not the "winner". Come on. Plus, if she wasn't even nominated, then it's only meaningless to those that didn't have a stake in it (i.e. the OP).

Nah, awards are meaningless to any actor who is in it for the right reasons.

On the other hand, DiCaprio has probably slept with his Oscar every night since winning it.

LMAO so true. Check out all the outraged "celebs" who were leading the "so white" campaign. They were all pissed they weren't nominated because they just thought they would. Will Smith, Spike Lee etc.

Maslany is like "oh wow, didn't expect to be nominated, cool" and when she's not, she's "Emmys? is it that time again?" lol

Guess that's the difference between being an actor and being a celebrity.

Award shows are so narcissistic and cruel. Nobody else gets an award for doing their job. Let the ratings speak for actors/actresses to move onto more roles.

Heath Ledger made some really good and articulate points in an interview I watched recently. Touching on how award committees don't aid in the craft and in a lot of ways distract or take away from it. Acting is so diverse and every role so different that it's almost not fair to judge one next to another. It's fun to watch the ceremonies, for some, but should not be taken too seriously.

What a transcendentally tone deaf comment. Yes I'm sure there's nothing else involved with why they would mount such a campaign besides their own personal micro-egos getting the best of them in an otherwise exceedingly impartial and fair situation.

LOL. Still can't quite come up with what benefit actually comes from such self delusion or what there is to fear from being real about the entertainment industry and its...failings.
