Her career makes me angry

I remember watching her on the Real World San Diego in 2004. She was pretty boring and didn't get much screen time if I remember correctly. It was a while ago.

Then fast forward a few years and she is in movies? TV shows? For some reason, finding out she started an acting career made me sick to my stomach. Just a harsh reminder of how unfair life is. How some people can rise to the top because of pure luck and timing.

Do I want to be an actor? NO. Do I want to be on a reality TV show? Not really. Oddly, the success of the Jersey Shore cast doesn't bother my as much as her success. Maybe because they mostly stuck to being reality TV people. It might also be because the Jersey Shore people have personality (even if its obnoxious). Jaime is a boring mouse with nothing interesting to say and no noticeable talent. Why is she in movies?

Seeing Jaime in movies annoys the crap out of me. Seeing her in the Hangover 2 irritated me and now I just saw a preview for "Premium Rush" on TV with her in it.

I don't dislike her as a person, just can't stand the fact that she has an acting career. Not sure why. Makes my blood boil.

You make your own luck and perfect your own timing.

reply

That's a half truth and you know it. A lot depends on luck. To have a chance in hell of succeeding in life you first need to be lucky enough to:

-Be born to the right parents
-Be born in the right country
-Have access to education
-Be born with an average or higher IQ
-Be physically and mentally stable

So you don't really "make your own luck". Certain things need to fall in place to help you out.

reply

So everyone who has made it had good parents, the right country, great schooling, was really smart and mentally stable? So you refute a half truth with a series of stereotypes and absolutes? For every person who made it with that background there are plenty who had the opposite and rose above it.

reply

Wrong. 100% of successful people had LUCK to help them at some point. No one on earth can succeed without the help of good timing and other people.

Its not really debatable.

Show me ONE person who became successful with NO luck and NO help at all.

reply

I never said they had no luck, I said they make their own. By taking advantage of the opportunities their given. Of all the people with supposedly undeserved careers why single out her for a tirade.

reply

Being given an opportunity is LUCK and its not luck you can make! Either you get an opportunity or you DON'T!

Why is that so hard for you to understand? You DON'T make your own luck. Luck either happens or it doesn't. If you get a great opportunity, that is not "making your own luck".. that is taking advantage of your luck.

-Taking advantage of an opportunity is smart.
-GETTING an opportunity is LUCK. And you don't MAKE yourself get luck.

reply

Why do you assume that opportunities are always given and not sought out. Its obvious you have this world view as an excuse to not even try.
