Katie Cassidy wins a Prism Award for Arrow Performance
Katie Cassidy attended the 19th Annual Prism Awards today in LA, where she received an award for Laurel Lance’s drug addiction storyline.
This year’s nominees portrayed such issues as: addiction, treatment and recovery (alcohol, painkillers, marijuana, heroin, cocaine, tobacco, and gambling); mental illness (depression, bipolar disorder, PTSD, schizophrenia, eating disorders, self-mutilation, and suicide); and brain conditions (Alzheimer’s, autism, and brain injury).
PRISM Award nominees are selected and voted upon by a Nomination Review Committee which consists of more than 80 representatives of both the entertainment industry and health care fields. Submissions are scored based on their accuracy, understandability of the message, and entertainment value.
The award was won for "best emplifies accurate depiction of drug, alcohol of tobacco use and addiction or mental health issues in a Drama Series Multi-Episode Storyline performance"
