So is she a star? Will she ever be a huge star?

We know she's popular for a few roles but she's been around for so long by now and yet she hasn't hit those highs that people like Jennifer Lawrence has. Even contemporary actresses like Elle Fanning seem to be getting more praise for her roles but I've yet to see Chloe get major praise for something other than Hit Girl.

In a way she still seems like a "teen actress" cast in horror movie remakes whereas Elle Fanning is making her rounds as a serious actresses who will be cast in serious movies, the kind that win awards.

J-Law is 26. Chloe is 7 years younger than her. NOT comparable.

Elle Fanning is NOT a star either. Actually, NOBODY under 20 is a true star in Hollywood.

Actually Elle is a star. She is probably the single most highly sought-after young actress in the 18-22 age category. Every major director wants to work with her right now.

It seems that Elle literally came out of nowhere to start starring in all these big budget productions and caught the eye of the studios. Chloe has been in the industry a lot longer even though they are the same age, but she hasn't quite reached the level of critical acclaim and bankability that Elle has already achieved.

You do realize Elle's sister started acting before she did, right? Seems a little inaccurate to say she "came out of nowhere", doesn't it?

reply

Obviously there was a family connection, but the way that the Elle has totally eclipsed her older sister is absolutely unprecedented. It seems like their career paths have taken inverse trajectories. Dakota was being hailed as possibly the greatest child star ever several years ago and now is mainly doing indie projects and otherwise has faded into relative obscurity, while Elle (no doubt influenced by her sister's success) is being praised as the best teen actress of her generation and is being offered mature roles by accomplished directors.

Chloe, meanwhile, started out with a lot of promise as a child actor but the studio executives and other big shots in the industry have not fallen in love with her the way they seem to have with Elle, despite Chloe being in the business a lot longer and working pretty much constantly. Most of her projects have not been critically or commercially successful and as a result she decided that taking a break to adjust her perspective would be in the best interest. Yes, in terms of 'celebrity status' and media visibility, Chloe is among the most discussed celebs on social media and is hounded by paparazzi wherever she goes. Unlike Chloe, however, Elle appears to mainly focus on her work, makes better career decisions, selectively takes roles that will strengthen her resume, and for the most part keeps her personal life separate from her professional life.

Ah, I see. Makes sense.

I'm not faulting Chloe here, just saying that maybe she should consider getting an agent who will be able to guide her more wisely. She can continue appearing in films like she has and have that kind of career if she so chooses, but if she wants a change then she should take the appropriate steps to make that happen. I do admire Chloe for how close she is with her family, how warm and loyal she is to her fans both online and in the real world, and how she is so passionate about using her platform as a public figure to bring about awareness of social issues and causes, but sometimes I question whether she is doing the right choices in terms of benefitting her acting career.

No, she IGNORES her fans online. Not just haters, I've seen tons of people reaching out to her for some kind of recognition and she's denied them.

22?.

Saoirse Ronan is WAY more successful than Elle Fanning and Dakota Fanning.
