His Future Career

I really hope he has a great career ahead of him. He is in the upcoming Terminator film, which should be pretty huge, whether the film itself is good is yet to be seen, but I'm sure he will do the best with what he is given.

I don't want to see him type casted. I think he could have potential to take on some dark roles as well as really funny ones.

I don't know why, but I can see him as a Christian Bale type. What I mean is, Christian Bale is obviously very famous, but he is pretty picky when it comes to roles. He is much better playing dark, weird, problematic characters than generic hero types(his extremely dull role as John Connor in the already forgotten 4th Terminator film) Bale is at his best when playing in films like American Psycho, The Machinist, The Fighter. He is stronger at playing troubled people than just the hero, and for some reason I can see Matt Smith going down a similar route.

erm... Both actors are great actors but Christian Bale is hot, Matt Smith is not for many people, often compared to a potato like the character sold on the BBC shop, and so he shouldn't be too picky.

I understand some actors are picky when it comes to roles but when you are not a good-looking man by Hollywood standards, you shouldn't be too picky and should accept the roles you are offered as experiences to improve and to be appreciated by the public who has never seen Doctor Who. You can afford to be picky when you are really well-known and Hollywood wants you no matters what you look like (ex. Benedict Cumberbatch).

I don't think Hollywood will want Matt that much, he is not exactly the type of men Hollywood likes, he is too English and too mannered in his gestures (I often thought his Doctor was gay with his effeminate and goofy gestures but then I realized he was also like that in real life).

Even though Matt is a a great actor with the English charm, I don't think he'll ever be offered the role of the good-looking hero like Hollywood loves so I guess he will often be offered small roles (I don't know how to say that in English, I don't mean an extra, I mean never the main character/hero).

Also I think at nearly 32 years old his filmography is not impressive, Doctor Who is well-known but for the rest, most of his movies in filmography are sadly unknown outside the US and UK because never broadcast so if one has never seen Doctor Who, they are often like "Matt Who?", In my country most people around me don't know him but know other trendy British actors like Cumberbatch.

I believe Matt will have more chance of first roles in the UK film industry which doesn't care if their heroes are not as hot as top models, Hollywood still cares and the concurrence is rude, they are many hot actors of his age with great acting skills.

I thought Matt would have worked more since he finished Doctor Who so I kind of worry because an actor is easily forgotten and not trendy anymore with all the concurrence in the film industry.

(sorry for my English)

He did American Psycho the Musical after Doctor Who. He's doing the three new Terminator movies. He's been doing what I call the Comic Con tour in the US with Karen Gillan (sometimes without and the same with her) and in Canada and I'm not sure if he's going to Australia but I know Arthur Darvill is.

He did Lost River (formally How to Catch a Monster) right before leaving Doctor Who which was written and directed by Ryan Gosling (and lost its distributor so might not see the light of day after being panned at Cannes).

So far he's doing fine getting parts. No, he may not ever play a Hollywood movie romantic lead but considering the films he does, I don't think it's weighing on his mind too much.

And vice versa.

What do we want?
Time travel!
When do we want it?
It's irrelevant!
