Hes an awful Doctor

Tough to take "young Mr Lincoln" lookalike seriously as a Doctor. Marfans is nothing to joke about, but he looks so gangly and awkward its tough to believe he could find his way out of a big house, much less any of the challenges the doctor faces week to week.

I hope they recast soon. Doctor #8 has to be better. imho.

what????

Are you kidding me?

Looking gangly and awkward is part of what makes him a great Doctor.

I hope he stays until his contract ends and he decides to move on to something else in order to further his career.

Is that how Smith got the role then? Because he looked gangly and awkward? It would explain why his lack of acting ability was not noticed. Following the logic of your statement, the ideal Doctor to replace Tom Baker in 1981 ought not to have been Peter Davison, but John Gordon Sinclair!

I was personally won over by Matt Smith as the doctor when his head sprung out of the tardis and said "why, did you call a policeman?" , that look, that sense of humor and great acting ability! He is my doctor for sure!

Gretchen: You're weird.
Donnie: Sorry.
Gretchen: No, that was a compliment.

reply

I disagree. My only issue is his age, but he's good.

And if you're hoping they'll fire him, only one or two doctors have ever been replaced in such a way, everyone else played the role until they chose to quit.

Matt Smith is an excellent doctor, he's an eccentric alien that basically loves time travel for the sheer fun of it as established since the late Hartnell stories but still acts moody and unstable in certain situations. He has the same emotional issues as Tennants doctor but handles them in a different way.

reply

Hey Tom Baker was pretty gangly and awkward looking too. That was part of his charm.

I'm sorry but I have to agree with the OP...

for one thing, he doesn't have an ounce of the presence/charisma David Tennant did. There's virtually no comparison, and I'd suspect most of the defenders are horny teen girls who squee over any awkward geeky guy with doofy hair and a british accent.

Nevermind the fact that he is unGODLY ugly. He is. He's downright unpleasant to even look at. When I first saw him on the show, I cringed.

And don't get me wrong - I am one who likes to give people a chance. At first I didn't like Tennant either - for about the first 5 minutes, and only because it was a change from Eccleston - but with Tennant it became clear very quickly - within the first episode he was on - that he was RIGHT for the part. He was perfect for it, in fact. So I can get past initial reservations if someone really is right for a part.

But this guy...no matter how many episodes in, is just WRONG for the role. He just is. You know how sometimes you just know in your gut that something is just off? Well, sorry for all the squealing girls who will rush to his defense (probably the same lot who are first in line for Twilight)...but it is just a misfire.

It's ok. It happens. Miscasts happen. This is just one of those times. It's not his fault. It just happens that he is not Dr. Who material. In my opinion. I realize that we are all privileged to our own opinions, so you may have yours.

Aaaaand....one more thing......fugly face aside, someone needs to buy that guy some eyebrows. I think that's what bothers me most about his face. It's like the part in Terminator when Arnold's brows got singed off and he looked all freaky. Just saying.

You have an issue with The Doctor's age? WOW, that's a first.
