I would have loved to have seen what RTD would have done with his Doctor

Now as much as I respect Steven Moffat, I prefer his work with the new Sherlock series than I do with his take over on Doctor Who. So it had me wondering what Matt's Doctor would have been like with Russel T. Davies, or at least the story lines. I think that the clues for things like the silence and River Song would have been more subtle or integrated, like the bad wolf ones in series 1. I also think that 11th doctor would be in mourning of losing Rose/Donna/Martha/Jack etc. Not to the point of it being melodramatic but knowing that there is a bit of longing for his past self.

RTD did write for the Eleventh Doctor in the 'Sarah Jane Adventures.' The episode is called "Death of the Doctor."

I know it's not 'Doctor Who,' but it's still nice to see RTD writing for Eleven just once.

"Doctor Who" is about intellect and romance that triumphs over brute force and cynicism.

reply

Really? I didn't know that. I don't watch Sarah Jane Adverntures, so that would be why! That is nice.

He was less kinectic and more calm

He had good chemistry with the kids.

And for the first and only time I totally brought his old man - young body thing they where selling.

Maybe its writing ? Or direction

In a fair universe, we would all be better people.

Oh, yes I agree with that! I think that has more to do with Matt though. I love Matt Smiths Doctor, but I miss how RTD moulded the series, it never felt all over the place. The Doctor probably would have had a bit more Female attention like Ten if Davies wrote for him lol. I do kind of like how Moffatt didn't do it as much.

You probably wouldn't have seen anything. RTD said if he was picking the 11th Doctor he would've picked...can't remember his name, but the guy who played "Midshipman Alonso Frame", the werewolf in Being Human.

As far as another comment that the 11th Doctor would've had more female attention..that's certainly true. There's a statement from RTD like "I was getting ready to write the Doctor in love again, when..". I don't remember the rest, but it was around the time Donna was the companion, and she was the only one that didn't have a thing for him. RTD seemed to intend every companion to fall in love with the Doctor. When I read that statement about "The Doctor in love again" I thought "Holy Crap! Donna's the first break he's taken!". It's sort of like a fat guy with three full plates saying he's getting ready to head back to the buffet again.

O.O Russell Tovey as the Doctor?! Oh, what could have been :( I mean, I enjoy Matt Smith, but damn...

reply

Oh my god. If that's what he had in mind, the whole introduction at the bar just totally blew my mind.

Maybe it was the bit where Jo Grant commented about how young he looked and The Doctor retorts by saying Jo looks like she's been melted.
