On first glance at trending...

my jaw dropped as I said to myself, "Jesus. What in the hell happened to Halle Berry?!"

Forget about the race "controversy". White, black, or anything in between - who gives a shit? The real concern should be this individual's ghastly appearance, regardless of race. Children will be terrified, but not of Ursula. Hardly ever do I comment on someone's looks, but holy hell. And before all the extremely clever "well, let's see your picture" comments come, I realize I'm not that great looking either, but people aren't starring me in films pretending that I am. Maybe that's part of the message as well - chicks that look like The Crypt Keeper can be princesses too. I'm sure that movie with Steve Buscemi as a model is coming any day now.

You need to watch it from a logical point of view. The main goal for the people who casted her was to prove they're righteous by blackwashing the character.

Now, imagine for a moment they casted a cute chick... people could think that you didn't cast her to prove your righteousness, but because she was cute!! That's a problem, because then... the producers wouldn't be righteous!!!

Solution: cast a black girl that doesn't look cute at all.

They did the same with Zendaya as MJ. The girl has a constant smirk in her face. Nobody would believe that they casted her because she was the cutest girl in the room, or the charmer, or the most interesting... but that's is a safeguard for the producers, because that proves that they could only have casted her because of her race, proving them to be righteous and deserving praise and beatification. Amen.

Everything makes sense when you realize that Diversity works as a religion.

Oh, I know and fully agree. I was just trying to be a little subtle and obtuse.
