"A liberal court is not written in the stars"

Even a moderate like me thinks this is a pretty good line.

Going from 2/3 senate votes to 51 for confirming a Supreme Court Justice basically
ensures the polarization of America.

History will judge it one of the most significant changes in the rules that lead to a corrosion of cooperation and trust between parties.

The problem isn't how the justices are selected and never has been the problem. The problem is that the justices liberal or conservative don't simply do their job properly which would be to go by what was written in the Constitution and only what is written in it, never ever trying to interpret what was intended or what the founding fathers would have wanted. I believe in abortion rights, but Roe v Wade was a bullshit ruling that pulled some imaginary right to privacy out of the Constitution that is not in it. If the people want and demand a right to privacy then it should be put into the Constitution by amendment not by a court of old farts making shit up. And there are ruling that go both left and right which are based on that same type of bullshit. The reality is you don't need to be legal scholar to read the fucking Constitution and understand what it says, maybe the idea justices wouldn't be lawyers at all and would just be random people picked from the population that could pass a reading comprehension test.

This is why it is a problem.

The 2/3rds majority vote made sure that the selected Judge would at least appeal to a section of the other ticket to be confirmed.

This consideration is no longer needed, making a somewhat moderate selection unnecessary.

It is a problem.

But the constitution doesn't say what percent is required and any majority D or R will just change the rules to 51% when the hold the majority. This isnt going to change now or ever, the Ds did this and now they are going to suffer for the change they made.
