So bummed out about this.

Variety in their article said that Rooney was "expected to return" but then deleted that immediately. I don't know how long it remained deleted for, but it was a while. And now they've come around and say this:

Rooney Mara is attached to return.

Lol, I don't know what to believe anymore. So take it with a grain of salt.

Gamenguide did something similar just the opposite way, they first said both daniel and rooney arent on board. Than one day after that they published a new article saying:

The film is now said to be in the works as Rooney Mara will be seen again reprising her role as Lisbeth Salander. However, it is not yet confirmed if Daniel Craig will appear as Mikael Blomkvist.

Is she confirmed yet? Did she say it somewhere?

Nope, the closest to any kind of confirmation (nothing tbh) is the Variety article. That's all we have for now. Don't keep your hopes high. Sony is planning a 2017 shoot and Rooney's got a lot on her plate for it.

I wonder if this guy is still running for Salander:
