Recasting Wonder Woman For The DCU After Gal Gadot's Exit

https://screenrant.com/recasting-wonder-woman-dcu-moives/

The entire Justice League cast is seemingly out for Gunn's DCU, but fortunately there are some great choices to replace Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman.

reply

They need a newcomer.

reply

It really wouldn't matter who replaced her.. The end result would still be the box office same because the general audience compared to fans really don't care for DCU movies aside from BATMAN and the last batch of DCU movies have proven this.. DCU movies are boring and too serious when compared to MARVEL

reply

People loved the first WW, and it was also a financial success.

reply

It'll have to be someone tall (5ft 9 at least), relatively unknown (like gadot was), late 20s max (for about a decade of movies) , brunette (but not a deal breaker as dye hair)

Gadot was a great choice tho , be hard to replace

reply

Hopefully an actress who can do an accent if necessary. Gal couldn't and so they made all of the Amazons try to sound like her.

reply

I think Gadot is the hardest of the heroes to recast. She was born to play Wonder Woman. Batman, Superman, Flash and the rest are fairly interchangeable, and are more or less the suit first with most any actor underneath. I cant think of multiple actors who'd be fine in those roles, but not one that can replace Gadot.

reply

She's not an actress, but damn she looks the part...

That screenrant list is doggo.

- Jaimie Alexander is older than Gal at 40 years of age. Other wise maybe not the worst choice...
- I'm not familiar with Adrianne Palicki but I see she's 41 years old!
- Ana De Armas? No thanks. She's too cherubic. Also a bit too short and small framed.
- I really like Naomi Scott but she's no WW. She's far too short at 5ft3 and very petite.
- I'm not familiar with Conor Leslie.
- I'm not familiar with Lauren Cohan, who is 42 years old.

- Elizabeth Debicki? No thanks. She's tall and a decent enough actress I guess but her phenotype is all wrong.

- I like Jodie Comer but I can't see her as WW. A slim, soft face and slender body. She's just about tall enough at 5ft7-5ft8.

- I'm not familiar with Adria Arjona. Facially she looks fine but she's only 5ft5 and seems very slim and petite.

- Alexandra Daddario is only one year younger than Gal. She's equally as slim (though bustier), no better as an actress (worse in my opinion) and I find her face a bit too cherubic. Height wise she just about makes the cut at 5ft7, though Gal was better suited at 5ft9.5. Not the worst choice I guess but given her age the ship has probably sailed.

Gal was a perfect WW. I know some take issue with her acting but physically she was perfect. Tall, slim/lean with a decent sized frame, beautiful yet mature looking. Voice wise too. Her accent was slightly exotic and she has a deeper voice than many other actresses, which is suited for the role of an Amazonian.

It does make me laugh when people say Gal is too slim and frail for WW only to list other actresses who are equally as slim if not more so (especially when many of them are shorter and smaller framed than Gal). Or even better when they say Gal can't act but say Daddario or Carano would be better. Yes, acting powerhouses the pair of them.

was somewhat shocked to see Ana De Armes is 5ft 6 (therefore be up to about 5ft 10 in heels) I legit thought shed be about 5ft 3 . Still too short for WW tho (WW actress would need to be 5ft 8 at least, but preferably 5ft 10/11)

But that Screenrant list is whack none of those will be DCU WW

When Gal was cast I remember ppl saying she was too slim and not looking enough like a Lynda Carter type but she def 'filled out' (I recently saw WW84 and she looks quite big in that, and i remember in JL she looked huge in some scenes), plus she defined the role on the big screen (it makes sense WW would be exotic looking anyway than 'all american' looking)

reply

I was surprised as well. De Armas gives a short impression, like 5ft2. I find her too babyfaced and cutesy for WW.

Gal was superb. She had the face, the height and the frame. After some working out and a big pair of boots she looked picture perfect.

I also agree that WW should be slightly exotic in a Mediterranean type. It just suits the character, being Greek mythology influenced.

reply

The boots/heels willve made her about 6ft+ and abit muscular esp in WW84 = absolute perfect

reply

I agree completely. Ana De Armas and Alexandra Daddario are indeed very beautiful, but cherubic is the perfect word to describe their beauty: round-faced and too neotenous in appearance. Not right for an Amazon warrior.

And Wonder Woman simply has to be classically beautiful; she's a literal Greek goddess (well, demigoddess at least) in the DCU universe. Some of the suggested replacements on that list are, I'm sorry, just not good looking enough, regardless of what other talents they might have. Gal Gadot had that classic beauty of face. Yeah, it would have helped a bit if she'd been just a bit curvier, but she was fine in that respect. She'll be tough to replace, and I honestly can't think of any already well-known actress who would be as good a physical match for the part. They should do what Richard Donner did with the original Superman movie, and cast an unknown with the right physical type and the talent to play the part.

reply

Phoebe Tonkin - She's 5', 10''. A bit skinny but she could bulk up. Not a well known actress but hey, neither was the guy now playing Superman.

Grace Caroline Currey - She's 5',7'' but has a great bust. And she's already played a superhero in the Shazam movies. Looked good in the outfit too. She has some name recognition thanks to Shazam and that movie FALL.

reply

Grace Caroline Currey isn't a bad shout... unfortunately for her she was in the previous DCEU universe in a different role so they might not want to rehire her. A clean slate, not wanting to confuse audiences and all that.

reply

Well, no one went to see Shazam 2 apparently so GCC might get lucky. :P

reply

'Grace Caroline Currey - She's 5',7'' but has a great bust.'

I would be perfectly happy with that casting!

reply

I think most would, which means she's out.

reply

You know they're going to go for a more manly woman, Kirsten Stewart or Ruby Rose. Hollywood hates gender stereotypes so forget Sydney Sweeney or Alexandra Daddario. Zoe Zaldana raises their ESG score nicely.

reply

If they do that they can **** off as far as I'm concerned.
