At age 34, Davies was clearly too old to be playing the part of the society debutante. And Irene Rich, playing her mother, was only five years older! Even for Hollywood, that's got to be some kind of record for the least amount of age difference in a parent and child. I remember that Jessie Royce Landis was only 8 years older than Cary Grant and played his mother in North by Northwest.
