In the remakes you can't imagine him actually swatting at those planes.

True, but none of the Kongs were a match for them. They all got killed by them.

That's a good thought. The real Kong (this one - the first I saw as a 6 y.o.) was a bad mofu, sort of a Cthulhu, who was too big to comprehend. That's why I love him.
