Man who claimed to have played Kong

In the 1970's a man named Carmen Nigro came forward with a widely-publicised story that he had been a professional "ape-suit" actor in Hollywood in the 1930s-50s, and that he had actually played Kong in certain scenes where stop-motion models weren't used. He was denounced as an attention-seeking fraud by film historians and the surviving cast/crew of King Kong. Sounds like a good subject for a documentary.

Yeah, he was full of it, just like all the people who have claimed to be grown-up versions of various Little Rascals and whatnot, riding on someone else's achievements. There isn't a single shot in KING KONG that uses a man in an ape suit.

She certainly doesn't know what she's talking about. Too bad she's simply helping to propagate that guy's deception.

There's a photograph of assistant animator Buzz Gibson animating Kong's climb up the Empire State Building.
