Island name never given

Nowhere in this movie is the island called "Skull Island". The mountain on the island is named Skull Mountain on the map and the people refer to it as Skull Mountain.

In the novelization which came out just before the movie the island is called Skull Mountain Island.

In King Kong 1976 there is also no mention of the name of the island, just the "beach of the skull".

Only King Kong 2005 mentions Skull Island in the film.

This Message Board refers ONLY to the 1933 movie, as does my original post.

I know that. I'm not stupid. You didn't ask a question. You just made a truthful point. I was merely ADDING to it so don't be so grumpy. Sheesh!

Hi Tim, I guess this is a reply to my time line discussion. You are most correct it never was mentioned as Skull Island. In fact the only reference was made by Ann who said;"the mountain shaped like a skull", when she saw the map. I guess I was being lazy. However I have been a big fan of this film for nearly 40 years and I do remember the Island being nicknamed Skull Island long before the P.J.remake possibly through reading or documentaries I have read or seen and called it that, so people (especially after the 2005 remake) could relate to it. I have a similar problem explaining the monster in Frankenstein actually had no name either.

Hi Buddy, have finally got the blu ray, wow you were right it is amazing.

Okay.

Well why would the island have a name given to it by the White man? Hardly anybody even knew it was there.
