Did Allan Jones pursue a musical career?

Did Allan Jones pursue a professional musical career at all during his life? I thought from what I saw of him in this movie as well as "Night at the Opera", that he had an excellent singing voice. Was he in any other movies?

Allan Jones was in A Night at the Opera the year before Day at the Races and he plays Ravenal in the 1936 Show Boat, a Universal film, directed by James Whale and also starring Irene Dunne, Hattie MacDaniel and Paul Robeson. He is also the father of singer, Jack Jones. In addition to musical films, he appeared in the stage version of Man of La Mancha on tour later in life.

He had a long musical career. One of his major movie roles was in 1937's THE FIREFLY with Jeanette McDonald in which he sang "The Donkey Serenade" which became his signature song.

I'm the kind of guy, when I move - watch my smoke. But I'm gonna need some good clothes though.

Someone once asked singer Jack Jones, "Wasn't Allan Jones your father?" The younger Jones snapped, "He still is."

I was a young girl then, but I think both father and son appeared on The Love Boat . I like some of Jack's singing, he was once married to Jill St. John. His father has a beautiful voice as well.

I think he had a nice singing voice but I didn't really like the songs he sang in this movie and A Night at the Opera. I did really enjoy the black folks more uptempo song where Harp led with a flute though.
Many of the very slow ballads of the 30s and 40s weren't really my cup of tea. As a kid, I often wanted to fast-forward past these parts but couldn't but now with streaming and DVDs I can which is pretty nice.
