First Gown

that metallic gown she wears - enough to get me to watch the entire movie. Glad I did.

Like everyone else, I keep asking, why is this not considered a top 100 classic?

Well, I consider it a Top 20 -- the film, if not that particular dress. But all the gowns rocked! Adrian got robbed of his due @ the '39 Oscars, as far as I'm concerned. The black one with the sheer puffy sleeves is its own masterpiece. Seeing it on the big screen (at AFI) about 30 years ago changed my attitude, in a heartbeat, about the importance of a show-stopping party dress.

I suspect that if "Midnight" had been released in 1938 or 1940, it would've collected a clanking tote-bagful of Oscars. And it's no diss of either Colbert or Ameche to admit there's never been a better supporting cast in a Hollywood comedy.

... especially in connection with the newspaper :D

I was watching Total Recall Remake until late and it was so bad - that I thought - OK, lets see the beginning of this old classic to get into a better mood again. Could not stop until the end...
