Lubitsch's Heavy Touch
I just watched this delightful film which is not without its flaws. A few of the supporting characters were overwritten and/or overplayed. Joseph Schildkraut was too unctuous and Pepi the Errand Boy, overbearing to the point of being annoying. I was surprised at Lubitsch's heavy-handedness given his reputation as a meticulous, subtle director.
