Did anyone else think that Jimmy Stewart's ankles were frighteningly skinny when he revealed them at the end? I was a little shocked at how emaciated they seemed, but maybe it was just a weird camera angle?

His thinness is one of the reasons that I identify so closely with Jimmy Stewart and he can reach me when no other actor could possibly have the same impact. I've always been thin and seeing someone in the same shape taking on the world and overcoming adversity made me feel great. The man is my all time hero, (and a true war hero to boot!)

Shortly after being in this movie and then Philadelphia Story, Stewart enlisted in the army, one year before Pearl Harbor. He was turned down for being too skinny, and worked hard to gain weight as fast as possible and then enlisted again.
