Interesting beginning, predictable ending

I knew how the movie would end long before it was over. The movie started out funny and it was a good buddy movie. I thought Bill Holden and Glenn Ford made a great team. I also found it interesting how when the two characters split up, we're with Holden and he becomes the hero of the movie that we are rooting for. Holden plays the most likable character with the most charm and bravado. But then once Holden becomes a cattle rustler and then falls in love with Ford's girl (Claire Trevor), I knew exactly how the movie would end. Holden was going to die and Ford would get the girl. It was a shame. Holden is so likable in the movie that you like him the most and root for him. And his character and Claire Trevor's were really the ones that went together the best. Maybe it helped that Holden and Trevor had good chemistry.

The only twist the movie had was how they had Edgar Buchanan as the villain. I was so used to always seeing him as a good guy and seeing him as Red on Hopalong Cassidy. This movie could've been great, but when I know how it's going to end way before it's over, it kind of ruins it for me. I wouldn't mind if this movie was remade. And if remade, I hope it has a better title. They could've come up with something better instead of just calling it "Texas."
