The introductory verse to "As Time Goes By"...

One night in the nineties, I was surfing radio stations and I heard Natalie Cole's voice. I was curious as to what this song was as I listened...

This day and age we're living in
Gives cause for apprehension,
With speed and new invention,
And things like fourth dimension.
Yet we get a trifle weary
With Mr. Einstein's theory,
So we must get down to earth sometimes,
Relax, relieve the tension.
No matter what the progress
Or what may yet be proved,
The simple facts of life are such,
They cannot be removed...

You must remember this...

I'd never heard the introductory verse before that! But then, as I came to learn, a lot of songs from the Great American Songbook have introductory verses that were forgotten down the line. Can you identify this one?

When all the world is a hopeless jumble
And the raindrops tumble all around,
Heaven opens a magic lane.
When all the clouds darken up the skyway,
There's a rainbow highway to be found,
Leading from your windowpane,
To a place behind the sun,
Just a step beyond the rain...

Okay, what's the next line? 😊

"Somewhere over the rainbow..."

"Forget it, Jake. It's the internet."
