DVD

Anyone own the current edition? How is it, any plans for a new addition any time soon? Thanks.

There seem to be loads of different DVDs of this filmn, all cheapo ones which probably aren't sren't much cop (the US Madacy release is HORRIBLE!). I'd love to see this classic film get a decent high quality release.

The quality of the tapes and dvd's of this movie are dreadful! I remember watching Life With Father on television when I was a kid and the color was amazing and truly added to the zest of the script and performances. What happened? Where is the perfect print and the company to do justice to this classic piece of Americana? It's very frustrating.

I bought one of the cheapo DVDs that exist (don't remember which one) and it was so bad I tossed it. Don't waste your money. Wait and it will eventually show on TCM. Or maybe even a good studio DVD will finally be released.

Yes, I bought the DVD of this movie a few months ago. The sound track is rather poor quality and I do not suppose much can be done about it. The movie itself is very pleasant and I often watch it; if a better edition is produced I shall get it.

the quality is pretty mediocre, but it's worth owning.

Yes, thanks. Please let me know if you find that a better quality production has been brought out; can this be done with the soundtrack do you know?

I have the Madacy DVD. The quality of the picture is just horrible and yes, the sound does drop out for a short while during one scene.

This is such a lovely film that it really deserves a restoration done with great care.

We have one of the bad copies. The images are blurry like it is a copy of a copy of a VHS tape and the sound is horrible. I honestly do not think there is a good version out there. I looked at TCM's store and saw that they have two versions. Both having bad reviews about bad image and sound for both DVDs. It is a shame there is not a good version out there. I have seen this movie on TV in the last few years, I am sure it was on TCM. The image was very clear and sound was good. So there is stock out there to make a good copy from.

I have just seen this as part of a William Powell & Carole Lombard Comedy Collection with 3 other films including My Man Godfrey. The sound and picture quality was pretty good.

I bought a copy from "Echo Bridge Home Entertainment". Awful! Black and white and un-intelligible sound.
Tried again with one from "Motion Picture Archive". Color and pretty good quality. Available from Amazon, on a DVD-R.

The DVDs are lousy. The version being shown by TCM is very good. Unfortunately, that version is not available on Blu Ray.
