Name that tune ?

What is the name of the tune of the theme music for "Life With Father."
It sounds as if it might be a popular tune, but I can't quite place it.
Any help, Anyone ?

I know it has been awhile sicne this was posted, but I thought maybe this would help. The song playing in the opening credits is the same song that the mother and father are singing together on the couch in one scene, I beieve its called "Sweet Marie" or something to that effect.

Who would have thought a good little girl like you could destroy my beautiful wickedness?

Didn't they say somewhere it was "Sweet Genevieve"?

Personally, I think I have too much bloom. Maybe that's the trouble with me.

"Sweet Marie" was actually published, and recorded (by Irish-American singer Ada Jones) in 1893. The film, play and novels take place in the mid-1880s so not too far off the mark.

It sounds an awful lot like the tune that Gene Kelly and Fred Astaire dance to in "The Ziegfeld Follies" (1945) in their "The Babbit and the Bromide" number.

"Don't call me 'honey', mac."
"Don't call me 'mac'... HONEY!"
