Elizabeth Taylor

Taylor was always beautiful beyond her years growing up in the movies, but it was rarely more apparent than here. She looked amazing in this film...anyone agree?

She was probably at her teenage peak here, as well as in the following year's "A Date with Judy". Her portrayal was annoying, as some have commented, but I don't think you can fault her acting. I believe it is mainly because the role itself was supposed to be a somewhat bratty teeanager.

She was about 15 or 16 at the time of the making of "Life with Father" (1947); I first saw this film when I was a teenager, and fell in love with Miss Taylor immediately. I still think she is the most beautiful woman in Hollywood. A lady like no other...

I thought her performance was wonderful! Utterly charming and she was such a beautiful young woman! Truly stunning!

She played the role as written, and very well. She was 14 here, and fully developed, though her face was still forming--she was a beauty, but not yet what she would be in her 20's and early 30's (and even beyond, if you can get past her crazy outfits and big hair and the weight issues that came and went.)

She was a charming, natural actress in these early years.

She was simply lovely. I read that her coloring was so vivid, she had to wear very little makeup for her screen roles.

reply

Ah,well...no. She was heavily made up on screen. Everybody is. Ypu can't put those brutal lights on an unmade-up face. Even Ingrid Bergman, know for her "natural" look, had to give in and wear more paint than she wanted.

In her real life, Elizabeth also favored a heavy make-up. But everybody who knew her would plead with her to tone it down; that she was much more lovely without it. (The first time I saw her in person, back in 1973, she was lightly made-up, and simply ravishing. Much more beautiful in person!)

When "Life with Father" was filmed, in the spring and summer of 1946, Taylor was fourteen. She was two months younger than Martin Milner, who seemed like a boy next to her.
