You have to register to watch it, but everything's completely free. Just go to www.MovieFlix.com and you can watch "Life With Father" there. There's also several other movies that you can watch free. (Most of the more popular movies require a monthly paid subscription to view, but ... The free ones aren't bad!)
Why on Earth would I want to watch a lousy transfer of a great movie for free online, when I would much rather the original owner of the copyright would rescue it from public-domain hell, do a nice transfer (from the original negative, if possible) and issue a nice DVD set that I'd be more than happy to pay $20-25 for?
Preserving classic films doesn't come cheap, so nobody who appreciates them should mind terribly buying properly restored DVDs at least once in a while....
There was no need to jump down his throat. Perhaps what he meant was it's better to watch a poor transfer for free than it is to pay for a poor transfer, Einstein.
