Can't help comparing this to the Witness for the Prosecution

Watch the two movies back to back and can't help comparing them. Both were about murder with the chief suspect in the box pleading not guilty. (No surprises there). Both had a motive and one who loved her husband so much she lied to get him off, the other lied to be with the man she loved, but he didn't love her. The husband from the WFTP didn't love his wife either. Of the two courtroom cases The Witness was far more intense and set a good pace. The The Parradine Case was very slow and unfortunately Gregory Peck's character showed a very week defence council (everybody picked up the vibe that he was obsessed with his client) and somehow I didn't find believable. He got too emotionally involved and of course that was the whole point. I think the character of the judge's daughter would have made a formidable barrister had she followed into her father's footsteps. I would have liked her to be digging into the background of the wife's goings on. The Judge and his wife, another story here. As soon as the wife spoke you knew that she was a down trodden wife with no confidence. Would have liked a bit more into this side.

Still good Hitchcock but have preferred others for more suspense.
