Thanks Ed!

Thanks for everything, Sunday nights wouldn't have been the same without you.

I know it will never happen but I'd love to see complete shows reissued for sale (not just clips and best ofs). PBS shows 1/2 hour shows, I'd love to watch the original hour shows from beginning to end.

Thanks again ED!

the COOL channel here in canada has recently started showing half-hour versions - they are each from one particular airing, so i don't know why they've shortened them....unlike the SOLT produced music versions, these ones have the circus acts, comedians, dancers and everything.....even topo gigio! brings back alot of childhood memories.....

With the PBS shows you get a solid half hour, without the commercial interruptions. So you are actually seeing most of the shows, and a lot of what is cut out is superfluous (applause breaks, etc.) You're not missing a lot.

I wish they would release some of the great pop stars on DVD instead of only rock and roll. I remember watching Judy Garland, Connie Francis, Steve and Eydie, Jack Jones, Ella Fitzgerald, Sammy Davis Jr. and many more legends. I may be feeling nostalgic but I remember those Sunday nights watching with my folks.

I have a DVd with highlights.

Johnny Carson 1925-2005. We will never forget you.

Not quite correct. I have an unedited broadcast copy of "The Ed Sullivan Show" from the 1950's that I bought from a now defunct PD-TV-On-DVD company, and with the commercials and other nonsense removed, it still runs between 45 and 50 minutes.

Acually, Sunday nights were never the same after the show ended. Growing up, Ed Sullivan WAS Sunday night. It was the hour that everyone in the family got together to see. Something for everyone!
patoline, I join you in saying "Thanks Ed!" Thanks for all the memories, and as my favorite little Topo said, "Eddie...Kiss me goodnight."
