Parallels with The Third Man?

Not a few parallels with “The Third Man”, do you think? Which makes one wonder if Greene and Read saw this film?
Both are set in a liberated ruined Central European capital, divided between the four occupying powers. Both contrast the naivety of visiting American civilians with the weariness of the victorious soldiers and of the defeated civilians they have to rule. Both involve a glamorous female entertainer with shady connections. In both, her evil former lover is drawn out of hiding towards the end and in darkness underground is shot dead.
