Children of Paradise

This reminded me of the French film Children of Paradise. Anyone else?

In what way did it remind you of Children of Paradise? What were the similarities?

Yes, me too.

I thought of this one too. If only for the first scene when you see the young crowd gathering at the very top of the theatre balconies (they are literally children of paradise, "paradise" being the name of the top level when there is multiple balconies).

Thanks Beau_Buffet, an answer at last 

I have a French friend who knows and loves The Red Shoes (1948)
I'll ask her if she knows Les enfants du paradis (1945) and whether she thinks that there are enough similarities

Oh dear, my French friend said:
I know Les Enfants du paradis. I don’t like it to much today. It has very nice moments, but is heavy as well. I wouldn’t say that the beginning is enough to remind me of The Red Shoes.

Yes, it has people gathering for a few minutes on the balcony before a performance, but is that really enough to remind you of TRS? It's only a short part of either film
