That's a short party.

That party couldn't have lasted more than 40 minutes, which is very short for a dinner party. Anyone else find this a little odd? Other than that, excellent movie.

I was thinking the same thing. If Hitch wasn't so obsessive about the one-shot gimmick, he could have done something to imply that more time had passed.

Interesting article about the "passage of time" in Rope.

The hosts were leaving that evening, so the guests knew it would be a short party.

I think that the party was intended to be a bit longer, but it was cut short because the murder victim's father was so concerned about his son. That business put a damper on things. Once the victim's father and his sister (or was it sister-in-law?) left, the others took the hint and left as well. Also, I think that the other young adults wanted to leave because of the awkward business of their break-up weeks (or months) earlier.

Brandon was really toying with everyone's emotions. The guests sensed it and they didn't really want to stay any longer.
